Restoration Shaman PVP Gear for Season 10

Whether you were doing PVP in Season 9 or you are just getting started on PVP for the first time as a Restoration Shaman, Season 10 is well underway. Honor Points (HP) are easier than ever to get and Conquest Points (CP) are also accessible to most people.
Get HP by joining battlegrounds, including Tol Barad. Conquest Points can be gotten by doing rated battle grounds (RBGs), arena matches, and the daily random battleground.
Baradin Hold
After participating in Tol Barad, if your faction wins, you will get an opportunity to go to Baradin Hold. This is a raid event for 10 player or 25 player raids, with 2 bosses. The first boss, Algaloth, is pretty easy and yield Season 9 pvp gear. The second, newer, boss is Occu’thar. Downing him will get you a chance at Season 10 pvp gear. You can do Baradin Hold once per weekly raid lockout.
As it is Season 10, we’ll focus on Occu’thar’s drops for the Restoration Shaman. All of the items dropped by Occu’thar are also purchasable with Conquest Points (CP) at the CP vendor for your faction.
Rings:
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Band of Cruelty – also sold for 1250 CP
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Band of Dominance – also sold for 1250 CP
You can get one of each.
Back:
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Drape of Diffusion – also sold for 1250 CP
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Drape of Meditation – also sold for1250 CP
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Drape of Prowess – also sold for 1250 CP
You can only have one of these so take whichever one drops if you haven’t purchased one yet. The spell penetration on the Ruthless Gladiator’s Drape of Diffusion provides the hard cap of 240 which is useful if you are casting ANY offensive spells – and you probably will be. The Ruthless Gladiator’s Drape of Meditation provides extra spirit and the Ruthless Gladiator’s Drape of Prowess provides extra mastery.
You should get either the Ruthless Gladiator’s Drape of Diffusion or the Pendant of Diffusion to reach the 240 spell penetration hard cap. If you get the pendant, and want to purchase a cape rather than waiting for a drop, I recommend the Ruthless Gladiator’s Drape of Meditation over the Ruthless Gladiator’s Drape of Prowess.
Neck:
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Pendant of Diffusion – also sold for 1250 CP (this also has 240 spell penetration, so don’t get this AND the Ruthless Gladiator’s Drape of Diffusion. It’s one or the other.)
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Pendant of Meditation – also sold for 1250 CP
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Pendant of Alacrity – also sold for 1250 CP
You can only have one necklace, so I would recommend going with the Ruthless Gladiator’s Pendant of Diffusion unless you already have the Ruthless Gladiator’s Drape of Diffusion. The Ruthless Gladiator’s Pendant of Meditation would be my second choice if I were purchasing a necklace with CP.
Trinkets:
- Trinket – Ruthless Gladiator’s Badge of Dominance – also sold for 1650 CP
- Trinket – Ruthless Gladiator’s Emblem of Meditation – also sold for 1650 CP
- Trinket – Ruthless Gladiator’s Insignia of Dominance – also sold for 1650 CP
- Trinket – Ruthless Gladiator’s Medallion of Meditation – also sold for 1650 CP
- Trinket – Ruthless Gladiator’s Medallion of Cruelty – also sold for 1650 CP
- Trinket – Ruthless Gladiator’s Medallion of Tenacity – also sold for 1650 CP
You can have two trinkets, but there are so many options that two doesn’t feel like enough. I would take the first 2 that dropped and I won. I’d purchase a trinket with CP last after I had filled out all my other gear.
When purchasing trinkets, keep in mind that any trinket that will remove movement impairing effects and effect that make you lose control of your character is a must-have.
Wrist:
- Wrist – Ruthless Gladiator’s Armbands of Meditation – also sold for 1250 CP
- Wrist – Ruthless Gladiator’s Armbands of Prowess – also sold for 1250 CP
I prefer the Armbands of Meditation for PVP. The Armbands of Prowess provides mastery, which is nice too.
Feet:
- Feet – Ruthless Gladiator’s Sabatons of Alacrity – also sold for 1650 CP
- Feet – Ruthless Gladiator’s Sabatons of Meditation – also sold for1650 CP
Again, I prefer the Ruthless Gladiator’s Sabatons of Meditation if I were purchasing rather than hoping for a lucky drop from Occu’thar. Either set of boots is nice.
Waist:
- Waist – Ruthless Gladiator’s Waistguard of Meditation – also sold for 1650 CP
- Waist – Ruthless Gladiator’s Waistguard of Cruelty – also sold for 1650 CP
Either is nice and would be a good addition if dropped. Otherwise, purchase the Ruthless Gladiator’s Waistguard of Meditation and don’t forget to get the extra belt buckle and gem.
Legs:
- Legs – Ruthless Gladiator’s Ringmail Leggings – also sold for 2200 CP
Only one choice for legs dropped for the restoration shaman from Occu’thar. After you’ve run Baradin Hold for the week and have 2200 CP, I’d recommend purchasing these. The chance of them dropping is very slim.
Hands:
- Hands – Ruthless Gladiator’s Ringmail Gauntlets – also sold for 1650 CP
Again, only one choice for gloves dropping from Occu’thar for resto shammies. These are a good second choice after you are saved in Baradin Hold and have enough CP to purchase them.
Purchased with Conquest Points
The rest of your Season 10 gear will need to be either purchased with Conquest Points or Honor Points. Go to your CP vendor and create a wishlist to work towards.
My general rule of thumb for prioritizing purchases like this is three-fold. One, if I can’t get the item any other way (like dropping from Baradin Hold) I’ll purchase it. Two, I get the item which gets me the biggest upgrade or is most essential. Three, I purchase the most expensive item from among the items left on the short-list generated by the first two criteria.
I will want the 2 pc and then the 4 pc sets for Season 10. If I assume (big assumption!) that I will get lucky with Occu’thar, then I will purchase 2 pieces of Season 10 gear as my first priority.
Season 10 Restoration Shaman Gear
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Ringmail Armor – sold for 2200 CP
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Ringmail Gauntlets – Occu’thar drop or 1650 CP
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Ringmail Helm – sold for 2200 CP
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Ringmail Leggings –Occu’thar drop or 2200 CP
- Ruthless Gladiator’s Ringmail Spaulders – sold for 1650 CP
I would aim for the Ruthless Gladiator’s Ringmail armor first and then the Ruthless Gladiator’s Ringmail Helm secondly. Then I would purchase the Ruthless Gladiator’s Ringmail Spaulders. If I still wasn’t lucky enough to get either the hands or legs to drops from Occu’thar, I’d purchase the Ruthless Gladiator’s Ringmail leggings to get my four piece set bonus.
There are other items worth looking at for Conquest Points, but I will be focusing on my set first. Once I get to the season cap of 7800 CP, I will purchase my Ruthless Gladiator’s Gavel.
Purchased with Honor Points
Season 10 Restoration Shaman Gear
- Vicious Gladiator’s Ringmail Armor – sold for 2200 HP
- Vicious Gladiator’s Ringmail Gauntlets – sold for 1650 HP
- Vicious Gladiator’s Ringmail Helm – sold for 2200 HP
- Vicious Gladiator’s Ringmail Leggings – sold for 2200 HP
- Vicious Gladiator’s Ringmail Spaulders – sold for 1650 HP
These are the honor points version of the Season 10 gear. They are acceptable and comparable to the Ruthless set purchased with CP. Feel free to spend honor on these to upgrade them while working on your CP gear.
Continue to fill in any gaps in your gear with HP. If you have PVE items still or Season 9 gear, upgrade those to Season 10 gear with HP.
You should be aiming for 3500 resilience and above as you improve your gear. As your gear scales your experience in PVP should also increase your ability and success. Good luck with your PVP experiences in Season 10!
